Our Huangshan Maofeng is a masterpiece among "Maofeng" varieties. Plucked very young, at the stage of only a bud and a single unfolding leaf, the tea is an etude of flavours and aromas. This playful tea tastes different and better with each cup. Traditional Chinese texts write: "the first cup is most fragrant, the second cup sweetest and the third cup ads strength and depth...".

Huangshan Maofeng is grown on the slopes of Huangshan Mountain in Anhui province. These magical tea gardens are often shrouded in swirling mists, that create a climate ideal for this naturally sweet tea.

Huangshan Maofeng is considered by many to be a yellow tea, because it undergoes an additional, light steaming process called "men huan". This step, not used in other green teas' processing, greatly enhances the natural sweetness of the tea.

Huangshan Maofeng is among the five best known teas in China.

Taste:
Our Maofeng Green Tea is aromatic and mellow with a light, naturally sweet flavour and long-lasting aftertaste. Liquor has a rich peachy aroma and intense fruity, slightly nutty flavour.

Appearance:
The leaves are yellow-green, flat, with a very slight upturn, and covered with silvery hair. The tea is made from one leaf and one silvery bud. Infused tea leaves are tender and yellow-green. Liquor is bright and pale green.

Origin:  Huangshan Mountain, Anhui Province, China.
Anhui Province is certainly one of the most important tea regions of China.

Harvest Period: Early Spring 09

The Legend:
The legend tells of a beautiful young girl who fall in love with a young man, living in the same village, whose skin was soft as a wild peach fruit. One day local tyrant kidnapped the beautiful girl in attempt to make her his concubine. She miraculously managed to escape but soon after she discovered that the tyrant had killed her lover in revenge. She found his body hidden deep in the mountains. She wept over the body till her tears became a rain and turned the boy into a tea bush. Till now the mist-covered Huang Mountain features a romantic landscape in which tea bushes grow amongst wild peach trees.

Glossary:
1.  Mao Feng - usually a grading description, literally Downy Tip, i.e. new bud.
2.  Huang Shan Mao Feng = Yellow Mountain Hair Peak
